On the morning of July 18, 2025, in Phin Chai 2 Hamlet, A Lu Commune (now Y Ty Commune), Lao Cai Province, a handover ceremony was held for 28 newly built houses supported by Hoa Phat Group. These homes provide safe, solid shelters for families rebuilding their lives after Typhoon No. 3 (Yagi).

Mrs. Tran Thi Thu Hien, Deputy CEO of Hoa Phat Group (second from left), joins local officials in unveiling the nameplate of Mr. Thao A Giay’s new house.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mrs. Hoang Thi Thanh Binh, Vice Chairwoman of the Lao Cai Provincial People's Council, acknowledged and thanked Hoa Phat Group for its support. She emphasized that these houses are not just places to live but symbols of trust and motivation, helping people feel secure, develop economically, and contribute to national security and social order in this important border area.

As the program sponsor, Mrs. Tran Thi Thu Hien shared that Hoa Phat Group had donated VND 10 billion to Lao Cai Province to help residents recover from the storm and rebuild. In Y Ty Commune alone, the Group funded the construction of 28 homes for disadvantaged families affected by the disaster, with a grant of VND 200 million per household—totaling VND 5.6 billion. “Life has truly returned to this land thanks to the cooperation of local authorities and the community. We are proud to have played a part in helping people overcome the hardships caused by natural disasters,” she said.

The 28 houses supported by Hoa Phat helped breathe new life into the area.

Colonel Tran Quang Tung, Political Commissar of Lao Cai Province Border Guard, affirmed that these homes not only bring happiness to the residents but also contribute to national border defense and the development of strong, secure border communities.

Smiles of joy from Y Ty villagers as they receive their dream homes

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dinh Quang, Deputy Head of Politics at the Lao Cai Border Guard Command, who directly supervised construction, shared: “The process faced many difficulties. The 28 houses were scattered across 9 hamlets with poor road access. Materials had to be transported by simple means, and construction was hampered by rainy, foggy, slippery conditions. In addition, there were several province-wide campaigns all over Lao Cai to rebuild homes after recent floods, leading to material shortages. But thanks to the joint efforts of local authorities, residents, and Hoa Phat Group, people were able to receive safe, well-built homes they had long dreamed of.”

Mr. To Van Thanh, Party Secretary of Y Ty Commune (formerly A Lu), thanks Hoa Phat for helping local residents build solid, comfortable homes.

Thao A De (19) and his younger sister Thao Thi Nhe, from Phin Chai 2 Hamlet, lost both parents in a flood after Typhoon No. 3 in September 2024. Their house was completely destroyed by mud and rainwater. Now training for a job and living in a new home, De said:
“Returning to a new house is such a joy for me and the other 27 families supported by Hoa Phat. A peaceful new life has come to our village. Thank you to Hoa Phat for giving our family a spacious, cozy new home.”

Construction began on October 28, 2024. Each house covers 65 square meters with three bedrooms and a 15-square-meter utility area. Designs respect local customs while meeting cost requirements. Completed in just over 10 months, the project demonstrates the strong commitment of the authorities and sponsors to help local people recover from natural disasters and move beyond the pain of loss and destruction.

In addition to helping rebuild Nu Village and Nam Tong, the support for 28 homes in A Lu (now Y Ty) represents Hoa Phat's practical effort to help residents restore their lives, settle down, and rebuild after disaster.
