By exceeding all production targets and keeping the farm disease-free - even while African Swine Fever spread across 34 provinces - the Lac Thuy Pig Farm has been named the best-performing GGP breeding farm in Hoa Phat’s livestock division for the second year in a row.

Lac Thuy GGP Pig Farm Leads in Farming Efficiency for Two Consecutive Years

In 2025, the farm produced nearly 43,000 weaned pigs, gilts, and market pigs, exceeding the target by 1,800 (reaching 104.4% of the goal). The average sow herd reached 1,246, also surpassing the yearly plan. The farrowing rate remained strong between 92% and 98% throughout the year. Additionally, the mortality rate in the weaning area was only 1.1%, performing better than the planned 1.3%. Since operations began, the farm has remained completely disease-free.

The Lac Thuy Farm began construction in August 2016 and started operations in April 2017. Located on 40 hectares in Phu Tho province (formerly part of the Hoa Binh region), the farm originally focused on commercial sows. It was later upgraded to a Great Grandparent (GGP) level to meet the Group's goal of building a closed-loop breeding system. This ensures a high-quality original breed source to expand the sow herds at the Long Ha farm cluster.

GGP is the highest breeding level in the Hoa Phat pig production chain. The entire sow herd uses purebred genetics imported from DanBred International in Denmark, including the Landrace, Yorkshire, and Duroc breeds.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Van, Director of Hoa Phat Livestock Development, stated: "The Lac Thuy Farm is one of three original breeding centers in our system. Its role is to replace the current sow herd and provide new stock for the Long Ha farm cluster. The farm also sells breeding pigs to the market, supporting our strategy to combine high-quality breeds with animal feed."

"In the face of complex African Swine Fever outbreaks, the Lac Thuy Farm and our entire system have stayed safe. We do this by using strict biosecurity rules across the country. We will keep adding new technology and techniques to Lac Thuy and our other farms to boost production," Ms. Van added.

The Lac Thuy Pig Farm is part of Hoa Phat Livestock Development, one of the four main business areas of HPA. In 2025, the pig farming division recorded an 83% return on equity - the highest in the entire Hoa Phat Group - and contributed 44% of HPA’s total revenue.
