Connecting hearts through charity

A group of 35 employees, representing more than 32,000 Hoa Phat staff members, volunteered to help those affected by Storm No. 3 in northern provinces. The volunteers, drawn from various member companies within the group, were divided into three teams to ensure efficient and heartfelt distribution of the gifts. Their coordinated efforts ensured the delivery of the gifts was in line with the group’s original mission and the goals set by Hoa Phat’s leadership.

Due to the scattered nature of communes and districts in Cao Bang, the teams assigned to Bao Lam and Bao Lac districts traveled to Ha Giang on the evening of November 20, to deploy early the next morning. The remaining teams departed from the Hoa Phat headquarters at 3 a.m. on November 21, arriving promptly at the designated gift-giving locations by 10 a.m.

The residents of Cao Bang expressed heartfelt gratitude for the efforts of Hoa Phat employees. Mr. Sam Ngoc Thoa, Secretary of the Party Committee of Thai Hoc Commune in Bao Lam district, thanked the team for making the long journey to support the most vulnerable households. He described the gesture as a significant source of encouragement and compassion for those affected by the storm.

Ethnic minority women in Yen Lac Commune, Nguyen Binh District, were overjoyed upon receiving support from Hoa Phat Group’s "Connecting Love" program.

"Undeterred by hardships, dangers, and challenges, we were determined to bring warm embraces and firm handshakes to the people," said Ms. Tran Hai Linh, an employee of the Sales Department at Hoa Phat Steel Pipe Company, reflecting on her first experience with the Group's charity mission.

"The journey was tough and perilous, with many landslides, collapsed bridges, and damaged roads still under repair. Despite the difficulties, Ms. Linh and 10 other staff members who traveled to Bao Lac and Bao Lam districts didn’t hesitate. Instead, they supported each other, staying focused on their mission to deliver the gifts filled with warmth and care from Hoa Phat employees. Age is no obstacle—what matters is our passion and commitment to helping others."

Ms. Tran Hai Linh (in black) enthusiastically guided the locals to the designated areas where they would receive their gifts.

"What really moved us was witnessing the severe hardships the people in these areas were enduring. Many families had lost everything - some had lost both their loved ones and their homes, and were unable to work or rebuild their lives. When we arrived with the gifts, the warmth and gratitude they expressed were overwhelming. They welcomed us with heartfelt hugs, handshakes, and wishes for good health, despite the language barrier. It was a truly unforgettable experience. I hope the Group’s leadership will organize more charity programs so that we can continue to participate and make a difference," Ms. Linh shared.

Mr. Nguyen Van Huy, a technical staff member from the Raw Material Processing Factory at Hoa Phat Steel in Hai Duong, reflected on his first visit to the revolutionary cradle and his first experience with Hoa Phat Group’s charity program. "I was excited to join the Group in bringing our collective goodwill to the people of Cao Bang. I knew the journey would be tough, but the reality exceeded my expectations. It wasn’t until I arrived that I realized just how much more fortunate I am compared to those living in the highlands."

Witnessing the struggles of the people, such as homes still covered with tarpaulins to shield from the rain and sun, or families living in temporary shelters while waiting for new homes to be built, we gained a deeper understanding and empathy for what our fellow countrymen have endured. One person expressed their gratitude, saying, "Receiving gifts from Hoa Phat brings us great happiness because it will help us buy materials like corrugated iron, roofing sheets, and cement to repair the damage to our homes." Seeing the joy on their faces, the Hoa Phat volunteers also felt a profound sense of warmth.

"This is my first time participating in volunteer activities with the Group, and it has been a heartwarming experience to be part of this mission," shared Mr. Le Minh Dung. "Our trip focused on helping the people in the highlands recover from the storm and floods, and it opened my eyes to the many challenges and shortages they still face. I believe sharing these experiences will help others better understand the conditions of people living in the highlands of Cao Bang province. Through this journey, I have gained a deeper appreciation for the social charity initiatives that Hoa Phat Group is committed to, and the support it provides to improve people's livelihoods."

Ms. Lai Thi Quyen, Deputy Manager of the Organization Department at Hoa Phat Hung Yen Steel Company, was honored to represent the more than 32,000 employees of the Group in personally delivering gifts to the people of Cao Bang Province.

"I have always been an active participant in charity programs," Ms. Quyen shared. "During my travels to these mountainous provinces, I was deeply moved by the beauty of the landscapes and the warmth of the people. When the Group announced the Cao Bang charity trip, I felt compelled to join in and contribute in whatever way I could to support the local communities. I am incredibly proud to represent the entire Hoa Phat workforce in handing over these gifts."

Reflecting on the spirit of the Hoa Phat team during the trip, Ms. Quyen said, "If I had to sum up the spirit of the Hoa Phat people on this trip in one word, it would be 'enthusiasm.'”
