Hoa Phat donates VND15 billion for social security activities in Quang Ngai

Hoa Phat Group has always paid much attention to ensure social security in the central province of Quang Ngai where it has implemented the construction of Hoa Phat Dung Quat Iron and Steel Complex. The group in collaboration with the province has launched many programmes and activities to share difficulties with the community. Hoa Phat has supported over VND15 billion to implement social security activities in Quang Ngai Province since 2017. Of which, Binh Son District accounts for nearly VND10 billion.

The donation and programmes that Hoa Phat has devoted to local social security activities have been increased year by year. In 2017, the donation of Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company was VND1.75 billion. This was increased to more than VND2 billion in 2018, VND4.97 billion in 2019. Alone in 2020, the total amount of money that Hoa Phat supported for social security programmes in the province reached more than VND6.38 billion in the first 9 months of the year.

The company has launched some programmes such as the annual “Spring of Love” to support people in difficult circumstances in the Lunar New Year in communes of Binh Thuan, Binh Thanh, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Binh Dong, Ly Son Island District; helping farmers in Quang Ngai Province to consume watermelon in 2017; building five classrooms at Binh Dong Primary School; building Trung Lap Temple in Thuong Hoa Village; participate in activities to celebrate 30 years of re-establishment of Quang Ngai Province.

The company also supported and sharing difficulties with households raising fish in Binh Dong, Binh Thuan, Binh Thanh, Binh Son districts; repair damaged roads; donate fund for the project “Kind to Sa Can” in reducing plastic waste in Hai Ninh Village, Binh Thanh Commune. It donated 2,575 helmets to elementary and secondary students in Binh Thuan and Binh Dong communes; support to build temporary dams to prevent saline intrusion in communes of Binh Son district; building “Traditional house” in Binh Thuan Commune etc.

During the outbreak of COVID-19 in the central provinces, Hoa Phat donated VND2 billion to Quang Ngai Province for pandemic prevention and control. It has also provided medical supplies (disinfectant solution, hand sanitizer, medical mask, temperature measuring device etc) for Dung Quat Border Checkpoint and Binh Son District Medical Center worth VND132 million. In addition, the company has also accompanied with the locality in major holidays, action programmes for environment protection and other activities for the community etc.

Especially, since Hoa Phat Group invested in construction of projects in Quang Ngai, it has contributed to creating stable jobs for tens of thousands of workers, most of whom are local people with relatively high and stable average incomes. The projects also promote the strong development of service industries, socio-cultural, supporting industries and attracts investment into Quang Ngai Province at Dung Quat Economic Zone in Binh Son District.

Currently, Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Company is directly employing over 10,000 employees, in which Quang Ngai employees are 7,842 people, accounting for 78.4 per cent of the total number of employees. Most of laborers are in Binh Son District, where the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Iron and Steel Complex project is located with 4,804 people, accounting for 48.3 per cent of the total. The company's contractors have also created jobs for tens of thousands of local workers and neighboring provinces during the construction of the project.
