Hoa Phat Delivers first batch of containers to Saigon Newport Corporation

Hoa Phat has delivered its first batch of containers to Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP), marking the beginning of a partnership between two major players in the industrial, port, and logistics sectors.

The event took place on the morning of June 25, 2025, at Hoa Phat’s container manufacturing plant in Ba Ria – Vung Tau, with senior leaders from both sides in attendance. Colonel Phung Ngoc Minh, Deputy General Director of Saigon Newport Corporation, along with representatives from affiliated units, participated in the ceremony. Representing Hoa Phat were Ms. Chu Thi Thanh Huong and Mr. Bui Ngoc Thuyen, Deputy Directors of the company.

This delivery and signing mark the beginning of the cooperation between Hoa Phat and Saigon Newport. It also represents the first time Hoa Phat has supplied containers to a leading enterprise in port operation and logistics services.

The containers supplied to SNP are optimized in terms of load capacity and tailored to domestic operating conditions. These products have already gained popularity among various clients. The representative of SNP stated: "This partnership with Hoa Phat gives us a domestic supply option that aligns with our goal to improve equipment quality and strengthen self-reliance in operations. We believe this will lay the foundation for a sustainable cooperation between both sides going forward."

Saigon Newport Corporation is a core unit of the Vietnamese military in the maritime economy and is the country’s leading port operator and logistics service provider. Its port and depot network stretches from North to South, serving as a central hub in both domestic and international supply chains.

The container batch supplied to SNP by Hoa Phat has been designed for optimal load capacity, tailored to domestic usage, and is in high demand among customers.

Speaking on behalf of Hoa Phat, Ms. Chu Thi Thanh Huong remarked: "Partnering with Saigon Newport Corporation is a significant milestone in Hoa Phat’s journey to develop the domestic container market. We will continue to enhance product quality and streamline production processes to better meet technical standards and practical demands from partners."

The containers delivered to SNP meet all international technical standards. Hoa Phat sources most of its input materials in-house, thanks to its weather-resistant hot-rolled steel coils produced at the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Integrated Steel Complex. This helps ensure stable production and boosts the company’s competitiveness.

Hoa Phat’s container plant is currently operating in phase one with an annual capacity of 200,000 TEUs, and is expected to reach 500,000 TEUs upon completion of subsequent investment phases. With this capacity, Hoa Phat is the largest container manufacturer in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

The cooperation between Hoa Phat and SNP is aligned with the national strategy to strengthen self-reliance in the domestic logistics supply chain using local resources. The two companies are continuing discussions to expand the scope of cooperation in the future, based on practical demand and the long-term potential of the maritime transport sector.
