Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense, stated that Vietnam is among the countries most heavily contaminated with bombs and explosives, with an estimated 5.6 million hectares affected — equivalent to over 17.7% of the country’s total land area.
According to preliminary estimates by the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for Overcoming Post-War Bomb, Mine, and Chemical Consequences in Vietnam (Steering Committee 701), the country will need over VND 200 trillion to completely clean up contaminated areas.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the support from domestic and international organizations and individuals represents a noble act of humanity, helping ease the hardship of mine victims while promoting socio-economic development in affected localities.
In 2024, Hoa Phat achieved VND 140.56 trillion in revenue, up 17% year-on-year, and VND 12.02 trillion in after-tax profit, up 77%, surpassing its annual plan by 20%. The steel sector continued to play a leading role, accounting for 93% of revenue and 86% of total profit. The agriculture segment saw profit growth of 4.6 times compared to 2023. Hoa Phat contributed over VND 13.4 trillion in taxes to the State budget — the highest amount in its history.
In the first half of 2025, Hoa Phat recorded over VND 74 trillion in revenue and VND 7.6 trillion in post-tax profit, increasing 5% and 23% respectively year-on-year. The Group contributed VND 7.1 trillion in taxes to 20 provinces and cities nationwide.
Alongside business operations, Hoa Phat dedicates hundreds of billions of VND annually to corporate social responsibility initiatives in healthcare, education, transportation, and community development. These include donating more than 1,500 houses to disadvantaged families and policy beneficiaries, providing over 300 water purifiers to schools and medical facilities, and funding the construction of Binh Dong Primary School in Quang Ngai Province.
