Although the domestic pig herd declined due to disease outbreaks and natural disasters, Hoa Phat’s farms maintained stable production. The company attributed this resilience to strict biosecurity measures, fully integrated closed-loop farming systems, tight disease control and farm locations that are not exposed to flooding.

All great-grandparent Vietnam at 7–12 weeks of age and raised until 31–33 weeks before breeding.

The breeding herd receives full vaccinations and is fed with feed produced by Hoa Phat. As a result, the company’s pigs achieve high weight gain rates and low feed conversion ratios.

Hoa Phat began developing its pig farming business in 2015, building farms in line with European standards. It currently operates seven farms across Lao Cai, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Phu Tho and Dong Nai provinces, maintaining a total breeding herd of around 25,000 head and a designed capacity of 750,000 market pigs per year.

In Dong Nai, the company runs three farms covering more than 170 hectares. These facilities are equipped with automated cooling, ventilation, feeding and water supply systems, along with closed-loop waste treatment processes.

The Long Ha 2 finishing pig farm is scheduled to begin operations in 2026, which is expected to further increase the company’s supply of market pigs.

Since 2019, Hoa Phat has distributed breeding pigs widely to the market. In 2024, the pig farming segment accounted for 44.2 per cent of total revenue at Hoa Phat Agriculture Joint Stock Company (HPA).

Pig farming is one of HPA’s four core business pillars, alongside animal feed production, cattle farming and egg-laying chicken farms. Among these, pig farming consistently contributes the largest share to the company’s overall business performance.

HPA currently ranks among the top 10 largest pig farming enterprises in Vietnam. The company has recently completed its initial public offering, successfully issuing 30 million shares at VND41,900 per share.

By 2030, HPA aims to expand its animal feed production capacity to one million tonnes per year, raise annual commercial pig output to 900,000 head, increase cattle farming scale to 73,000 head per year, and maintain annual egg production of 336 million eggs.
