Hoa Phat Supplies Prestressed Steel for Dong Dang – Tra Linh Expressway Project

Hoa Phat’s prestressed steel has officially been selected for use in the EPC package of Phase 1 of the Dong Dang – Tra Linh Expressway project (Lang Son – Cao Bang). The product successfully passed all required mechanical tests, including a 1,000-hour stress relaxation test, and meets the ASTM A416 quality standard of the United States.

Hoa Phat’s prestressed steel is produced on a modern European-imported production line, capable of manufacturing 7-wire PC Strand cables to international standards.

The Dong Dang – Tra Linh Expressway, connecting Lang Son and Cao Bang provinces, is developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model with a total length of 121 km. Phase 1 spans 93.35 km and involves a total investment of VND 14,300 billion.

High-quality prestressed steel cables (PC Strand) with diameters of ɸ12.7 mm and ɸ15.24 mm, produced by Hoa Phat, will be used in the bridge girder structures of the expressway. To be approved for use, Hoa Phat’s prestressed steel had to meet strict technical and quality standards set by the project management board, investor, consulting unit, and contractor.

Hoa Phat’s PC Strand stands out for its high tensile strength, stable stress relaxation, and consistent elongation. These characteristics help reduce stress losses during service and enhance long-term load-bearing performance. As a result, the product has been highly rated by design consultants and construction contractors, often favored over imported alternatives from China, Thailand, or Malaysia.

Hoa Phat Prestressed Steel One Member Limited Liability Company is currently the only enterprise in Vietnam capable of manufacturing and supplying high-quality prestressed steel cables. The cables are produced using advanced European technology and are fully compliant with international standards, including ASTM A416 (USA), BS 5896 (UK), and EN 10138-3 (EU). The company provides 1x7 PC Strand cables with strength grades of 250 ksi and 270 ksi, and nominal diameters ranging from 9 mm to 16 mm, customizable to client requirements.

Hoa Phat is the sole producer of high-quality prestressed steel cables in Vietnam.

Hoa Phat’s prestressed steel products have been exported to demanding markets such as the United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia, as well as regional markets like Taiwan, Malaysia, Cambodia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar.

In the domestic market, Hoa Phat’s PC Strand has been used in various key infrastructure projects including the North–South Expressway (Vung Ang – Bung section), the National Highway 45 – Nghi Son section, the National Exhibition and Convention Center, Ho Chi Minh City National University, and commercial centers such as AEON Mall Thanh Hoa and AEON Mall Hai Duong. Hoa Phat’s prestressed steel has also been used in numerous factory construction projects within industrial parks, such as Johnson Bac Ninh, Ehua Bac Ninh, and Mahang Dung Quat, among others.

With advantages in both supply capacity and logistics, Hoa Phat’s prestressed steel plays a key role in accelerating major infrastructure projects and working in tandem with contractors to help achieve the government’s target of completing 3,000 km of the North–South Expressway, including its expansion phase, by 2025 as directed by the Prime Minister.
