Hoa Phat Steel Sheet Company completes ISO-standard greenhouse gas inventory report

ISO 14064-1:2018 is a crucial standard within the environmental field, serving as a cornerstone for both climate change response programs and global sustainable development goals. It provides a robust framework for quantifying and reporting greenhouse gas emissions and removals for businesses and organisations. Compliance with this standard is vital for steel and corrugated iron production enterprises, as it serves as a prerequisite to meet export requirements in global markets, particularly in the European region.

Commencing in June 2023, Hoa Phat initiated contact with consulting units to prepare greenhouse gas emission reports. Simultaneously, they provided operational data and relevant information to facilitate the inventory of greenhouse gas emissions for the 2022-2023 period.

In December 2023, Hoa Phat Steel Sheet Company underwent an inspection and received confirmation from the BSI for its Greenhouse Gas Inventory Report. The verification results demonstrated that the company's greenhouse gas management met all requirements, making it eligible to confirm and publish the Greenhouse Gas Inventory Report in accordance with ISO 14064-1:2018 standards.

Furthermore, the company successfully completed the Confirmation Inventory process for its product lines in February 2024, following ISO 14067:2018 guidelines for Carbon Footprint Quantification. It is anticipated that BSI will issue the Carbon Footprint Report confirmation for Hoa Phat Steel Sheet products in April 2024.

The Hoa Phat Steel Sheet Factory has been impeccably invested in with state-of-the-art and synchronized equipment, ranging from rust removal and cold rolling to zinc plating, cold plating, painting lines, and various auxiliary machinery. The entire equipment line has been imported from G7 countries.

Hoa Phat Steel Sheet distinguishes itself as the sole corrugated iron manufacturer in Vietnam that achieves self-sufficiency in hot rolled steel (HRC) raw materials from the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Integrated Complex. This significant advantage empowers Hoa Phat Steel Sheet to exercise control and ensure consistent product quality throughout the entire production process.

This advantage holds immense value, allowing Hoa Phat to establish market dominance by offering competitive prices and maintaining strict quality control over finished products. Moreover, with a 100% Vietnamese product origin, Hoa Phat Steel Sheet effortlessly expands its export output to major markets, particularly to countries with stringent origin requirements.

With a sales output of 329,000 tons in 2023, Hoa Phat Steel Sheet proudly maintains its position among the top five largest manufacturers in Vietnam. Notably, export output reached nearly 140,000 tons, contributing to 43% of the company's total sales. Currently, Hoa Phat Steel Sheet's primary export markets encompass Europe, America, and Asia, with main export products including rust-free steel sheets, cold-rolled steel sheets, galvanized steel sheets, cold-coated steel sheets, and color-plated corrugated iron.

Additionally, in February 2024, Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company successfully underwent inspection and received confirmation from BSI regarding its greenhouse gas inventory report, aligning with the ISO 14064-1:2018 standard. This demonstrates Hoa Phat Group's proactive approach in applying the latest quality standards, production management practices, and operational strategies across its member companies to meet the evolving demands of the market.
