Hoa Phat reached the 10 millionth tons of HRC

On June 6, 2024, Hoa Phat officially achieved a significant milestone by producing 10 million tons of hot rolled coil steel (HRC). This accomplishment stands as a testament to the dedication and hard work of Hoa Phat's engineers and employees over the past four years since the first HRC roll was produced in May 2020. It solidifies the company's position as the foremost steel manufacturer in Southeast Asia.

The employees of the QSP Steel Rolling Mill at the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Iron and Steel Complex are brimming with joy as they celebrate the momentous achievement of reaching 10 million tons of HRC

Mr. Bui Van Tiep, the Director of the HRC Steel Rolling Factory at Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel said: “Being the only Vietnamese enterprise capable of producing HRC, Hoa Phat has offered a diverse array of HRC product types tailored to meet various needs to the market. These include low carbon steel grades such as SAE1006, SAE1008, S235JR, SPHC, SPHD, BJPC, and SPHT1, as well as medium carbon steel grades like SS400, S275, S355, SAE1017, SS36, and ASTM A36, alongside SPAH grades. The Hoa Phat Dung Quat Iron and Steel Production Complex also customizes products in terms of width and thickness to cater to customer specifications.

Furthermore, Hoa Phat's HRC products adhere to stringent Vietnamese and international standards, including JIS, MS, SAE, and BS EN. Notably, by mid-2023, Hoa Phat's HRC received CE Marking, a quality certification recognized as a "passport" for exporting to Europe. The range of HRC products offered by Hoa Phat encompasses thicknesses ranging from 1.2 to 19mm and widths spanning from 700 to 1650mm.

HRC stands as a pivotal industrial steel product, serving as the cornerstone and primary material for various high-tech manufacturing sectors such as automobile manufacturing, shipbuilding, mechanical engineering, household appliances, steel structures, galvanized steel, steel pipes, and container shells.

Hoa Phat has made significant investments in HRC production, employing a state-of-the-art continuous smelting, casting, and rolling line at the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Iron and Steel Production Complex, with technology provided by the Danieli Group (Italy). Over the course of four years, the company's engineers have adeptly mastered production technology, resulting in the creation of diverse product lines and high-quality steel grades that cater to the needs of both domestic and international markets.

On March 27, 2024, an investor delegation had the opportunity to tour Hoa Phat's cutting-edge hot-rolled steel coil line

The group is actively progressing with the Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 project, covering an extensive area of 280 hectares and boasting a total investment capital of 85,000 billion VND. Designed to have a capacity of producing 5.6 million tons of high-quality hot-rolled steel per year, this project commenced implementation in the first quarter of 2022. Initial targets, such as the completion of the HRC hot rolling line, are set to be achieved by the end of 2024.

At present, Hoa Phat's HRC production capacity stands at 3 million tons per year. Upon the successful operation of the Dung Quat 2 project, the company's total HRC output is expected to surge to nearly 9 million tons per year. This significant expansion underscores Hoa Phat's commitment to meeting the rising demand for high-quality steel products in the market.

On May 16, 2024, a delegation from the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA) and the Southeast Asian Steel Association (SEAISI) had the privilege of visiting Hoa Phat's HRC production line

Phase 1 of the Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 project is scheduled to commence operations at the beginning of the first quarter of 2025, with Phase 2 slated for completion and operational readiness in the fourth quarter of the same year. The focus of Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 will be on the development of high-quality HRC products, catering to various industries such as automobile manufacturing, as well as providing low-carbon steel for the production of items like canned goods, household appliances, steel structures, and high-strength, weather-resistant container shells. This strategic direction underscores Hoa Phat's commitment to meeting the evolving demands of the market with top-notch steel products.
