Hoa Phat Hai Duong Steel raised the electricity generating capacity of the complex to 12MW

The dry coke stamping line at Hoa Phat Hai Duong Iron and Steel Complex has officially come into operation in mid-August 2019. This is an eco-friendly coke stamping technology, improving coke quality and reducing coke consumption for blast furnaces. Especially, with the recovery of residual heat from the dry coke stamping line, the capacity of complex will be increased by 12MW / year, bringing the total capacity of complex to 64MW.

With the characteristics of heavy industrial production using large amounts of electricity and coal, Hoa Phat emphasizes the thrifty use of energy, natural resources, researches and applies environmental protection methods. The Group has always focused on investing in technology and equipment to produce cast iron and steel in order to control the environmental issues, thoroughly handle the arising wastes and emissions. The most important is the closed-loop technology solution, friendly with the environment. This solution is applied to both Hoa Phat Steel and Steel Complex in Hai Duong and Quang Ngai. The investment capital for environmental categories of Hoa Phat Steel accounts for about 20-30% of the total investment capital of the projects.

The coke and thermoelectricity plant in Hai Duong iron and steel complex invested in a system of gathering, treating gas, excess heat and 3 generating sets with a capacity of 52MW, equivalent to a medium-sized thermal power plant. This method helped Hoa Phat to be proactive nearly 50% of the electricity for steel production, besides, ensure the production environment as well as the surrounding community.

Since 2018, Hoa Phat Hai Duong Steel Joint Stock Company has invested about nearly 700 billion VND in the dry nitrogen coke stamping system which has just been completed in mid-August 2019. This is the Company's effort in improve technology to be more and more environmentally friendly, save production costs, improve generation of electricity for production, from 52MW to 64MW since the third quarter of 2019.

Hoa Phat Steel Hai Duong uses the most advanced ultra-clean coke heat recovery technology in the world which is friendly to the environment, produces clean coke coal with heat recovery, meet  the environmental standards according to the developed emission mechanism of CDM to reduce greenhouse gas emissions under the Kyoto Protocol. This technology eliminates all toxic gas, smoke and toxic chemicals generated from the process of coking coal, only recovers the heat to run the generator, helping Hoa Phat to proactively take 50-60% of the producing electricity demand, cost savings, improve the competitiveness of Hoa Phat steel.

The company is also focusing on building and installing machinery and equipment with a surplus capacity of 50 MW. This project is expected to be completed in September 9/2021. When this super high-pressure thermal power plant project is completed, the electricity output of Hoa Phat Hai Duong Steel will increase by 50 MW and be autonomous to 80% of the produced electricity for the complex.
