Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel installs solar power system with over 2,500 KWp capacity at retention lake

From May 10 to June 30, 2026, Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel is installing a solar power system with a capacity of over 2,500 KWp at the retention lake inside the complex. The system is set up over an area of 27,000 m2. When it starts running, the clean self-generated power volume will reach 3.6 million KWh, helping to cut down nearly 2,500 tons of CO2 each year.

The system uses 4,014 LESSO Solar 625 Wp solar panels of the N-type TOPCon line and 14 high-efficiency GoodWe inverters (GW150K-GT-G10). N-type TOPCon is a new generation panel line with an efficiency rate of 23.14%, and it can absorb light and generate power well even in low light conditions. The GoodWe GW150K-GT-G10 grid-tied inverter features 10 MPPTs, helping to ensure the system runs effectively outdoors.

Starting from 2025, Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel invested VND 600 billion to deploy a solar power project with a design capacity of 79.2 MWp. The goal is to increase self-sufficiency in clean power for production, save costs, protect the environment, and lower emissions. 

The project includes 5 phases, with phase 1 and phase 2 installed in November 2025 and March 2026. The project is expected to be finished by the second quarter of 2027, creating more than 115 million KWh of clean electricity and cutting down over 78,000 tons of CO2 each year.

In March 2026, Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel installs rooftop solar power Phase 2 with a capacity of 22.5 MWp 

The solar power system at the retention lake belongs to phase 2 of the project, which has a total design capacity of 22.5 MWp. The self-generated power volume of phase 2 reaches around 32.8 million KWh, helping to cut down 22,000 tons of CO2 gas each year. 

Hoa Phat Group is currently the largest steel producer in Southeast Asia with a capacity of 16 million tons by the end of 2026, in which the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Integrated Complex contributes 12 million tons of steel per year. In 2025, Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel reached a self-generated electricity volume of 2.85 billion KWh, covering nearly 90% of the electricity needed for production at the iron and steel complexes thanks to many solutions like waste heat recovery, eco-friendly dry coke quenching tech, and the use of continuous casting and rolling tech.
