Hoa Phat’s hot-rolled coil (HRC) steel output reaches 1 million tonne

On the morning of February 20, 2021, the 1 millionth ton of hot-rolled coil (HRC) steel was officially produced at Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Integrated Complex. This was a memorable milestone in the development process of Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company in particular and Hoa Phat Group in general.

After more than 9 months since commissioning, Hoa Phat's HRC output has reached 1 million tons. According to experts from Danieli Group, the contractor for consultation, production and installation of steel rolling line equipment for Hoa Phat since the early 2000s, the above output has been a record for a direct hot plate rolling factory in the world. There is few plate rolling lines in the world achieve the output of 1 million tons after such a short time.

This success has a very special meaning, showing the maturity, the ability to master technology, the spirit of overcoming all difficulties of all employees at Hoa Phat Dung Quat. The continuous hot-rolled sheet steel casting technology was deployed for the first time at Hoa Phat Group. However, with the support of Danieli's leading experts and engineers, Hoa Phat has successfully put the hot - rolled coil production line with continuous sheet-rolling technology into operation with increasingly high output.

 In 2020, Hoa Phat Group posted a production of nearly 700,000 tons of HRC products. In 2021, the group set a target of 2.7 million tons of HRC, over 5 million tons of construction steel and steel billet. Of which, Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Integrated Complex will produce all of the HRC products and a half of the group's production output for steel billet and construction steel.

Hoa Phat Group welcomed the 1 millionth ton of HRC steel

In the production atmosphere at the beginning of the year of Ox, the milestone of 1 million tons of HRC was an encouragement to Hoa Phat Dung Quat’s employees to confidently strive to complete the set goals this year. Hoa Phat Group will launch its Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 iron and steel factory project in early 2022 with a capacity of 5 million tonnes per year, focusing on hot rolled coil (HRC) production using latest technology in the world today, better than the current line.

HRC is a hot-rolled steel coil product with a common thickness of 1.2mm - 14mm, size from 1.2m - 1.5m. Currently, the domestic market demand for HRC products is about 12 million tons. Vietnam has to import about 60 per cent of the total. HRC products are raw materials for manufacturing industries: steel pipes, galvanized steel sheets, steel structures, mechanical fabrication, automobiles and household products.
