The Ministry of Construction has just issued Circular No. 10/2019 / TT-BXD guiding the norm of using materials in grading of construction concrete and mortar materials, which clearly stipulates the percentage of allowable use of S95 blast furnace slag, replacing a significant part of PCB40 cement in all concrete mortars. This has opened a channel of consuming large fine granulated blast furnace slag and favorable for iron ore-producing enterprises like Hoa Phat.
Accordingly, S95 will officially be used as materials in construction works in general and works using state budget capital, non-budget state capital and construction investment projects in the form of public-private partnership (PPP).
With the norm of grading concrete mortar materials using PCB40 cement and S95 fine blast furnace slag, S95 slag has replaced about 30% of PCB40 cement in the norm of all concrete grades and achieved resistance permeate from B10 for marks from 250 to 350 and B12 for marks from 400 to 550.
Hoa Phat S95 blast furnace slag
The granulated Blast furnace slag is a by-product of iron and steel production process using closed blast furnace technology. Due to the extremely rapid cooling with high pressure water, the granulated blast furnace slag is a kind of mineral active additive very good for cement, concrete and has been used for a long time in the world as well as in Vietnam. S95 fine blast furnace slag products contribute to the thorough treatment of solid waste in Hoa Phat's green steel production process, while protecting the environment as well as creating a stable source of revenue for Hoa Phat Group.
With two steel integrated complexes in Kinh Mon - Hai Duong and Dung Quat - Quang Ngai, Hoa Phat can supply to domestic and foreign markets 2.6 million tons of fine blast furnace slag granules per year.

S95 Hoa Phat fine grinding blast furnace slag has many outstanding advantages, applied as highly activated mineral additives for the production of cement, concrete, mortar or as a binder to reinforce weak ground. With S95, it is possible to produce mass concrete by reducing hydrothermal heat of concrete, producing heat resistant concrete due to increased thermal stability of concrete, durable concrete production in seawater, salt water and brackish water, due to the increased waterproofing of concrete, preventing the erosion of chlorine and sulfate, meeting the need to increase the life of works on the sea, on islands and coastal areas.
In particular, this product will help lower the cost of commercial concrete due to lower costs of S95 Hoa Phat, while reducing clinker content in cement, thereby reducing CO2 emissions, contributing to environmental protection.
