Quarter 2/ 2010: Reaches 100% of Coke capacity

As the latest statistics, Hoa Phat Energy JSC has successfully completed its business plan. Specifically, within the second quarter of 2010, the revenue total achieved sales of VND 460.8 billion; production reached 80,544 tons of Coke, including three export orders with a total output of 35,000 tons. In particular, this is a landmark that Hoa Phat Coke factory has reached 100% of the first Phase’s design capacity.


Although there were some difficulties in raw coal for producing coke, the company has achieved business results positively. With the power of self-production from coke producing process, the company can take the initiative 100% of power in production, not being affected by power shortages throughout the country. This is a real strength of Hoa Phat.

Nguyen Duc Tuan - Director of Hoa Phat Energy Corporation, said: "We always look for sources of different raw materials to meet the requirements of the market, as well as new customers". In the second quarter, many trade and manufacturing companies in domestic and foreign market have contact with Hoa Phat Energy. In particular, two main markets of Hoa Phat Coke are India and Japan.

Coke for metallurgic is strictly demanded on many components such as grain size of coke, carbon, ash, sulfur, phosphorus, M10, M40 (durable drum), CSR (carbon intensity after contrast applications), CRI (gasification reaction of carbon), particle size, ... With the modern equipment, quality control process strictly and experienced technical staffs, the company fully meets all the requirements of customers, especially for export orders. Therefore, the company's product not only serves to Hoa Phat steel mills, the domestic steel producers, but also has been continuously ordered by international companies.

According to the design capacity, factory’s Phase 1 reaches 350,000 tons of Coke and 15MW commercial electricity per year. Currently, the company is boosting the implementation of the first items of phase 2 with the same capacity and completed by the middle of 2011.

In the coming time, the company continues to supply coke for new steel furnaces of Viet Nam and maintains exports to existing markets such as India and Japan, while  developing more other markets like Korea, Malaysia, Thailand ...
