Hoa Phat Steel JSC in April provided 178,000 tonnes of construction steeel to the market, posting 10 per cent year-on-year increase. This has been a high output as the group halted operation of blast furnace No 2 for upgrade together with the steel mill No 2.

The high construction demand has helped Hoa Phat Steel maintain high sales volume so far this year. In the first four months of the year, Hoa Phat Steel sold 719,000 tonnes of steel to the market, up 51,000 tonnes over the same period last year.

Especially, Hoa Phat Steel ‘s exports saw a sharp increase with 77,600 tonne in the January-April period, increasing 24.5 per cent from the same period last year. In the end of last year, Hoa Phat successfully negotiated an order of 6,500 exporting to Australia. The shipment would be handed to the Australian partner in May.

The Hoa Phat Hai Duong Steel Integrated Complex planned to halt operation of the blast furnace No 2 and relevant items in the second phase from March to May. Earlier, Hoa Phat had been active in increasing steel billet output to reserve for the months, ensuring adequate supply to the market.
