Hoa Phat steel will supply wire rod for welding product from QIII/2016

According to statistics of welding materials industry, Vietnam annually needs about 100,000 tons of low carbon steel to make welding rod. Hoa Phat steel is expected to produce this kind of specialized steel in the third quarter 2016 to help the local welding materials businesses to take initiative of raw materials, avoiding dependence on imports.

With the available modern technology line, Hoa Phat will meet the demand for domestic welding rod steel

According to Mr. Ho Duc Tho - Deputy Director of Hoa Phat Steel Joint Stock Company, this is kind of special steel, high technical requirements, particularly the carbon content must be less than 0.09%, manganese <0.65% should be very soft, other components like P, S are required to be very small concentrations. Steel for welding rod core has grade SWRY 11, JIS G 3503 (2006); steel grade H08A, China standards GBT 3429; automatic welding wire core with grade EM 12K, American standard ASME SFA / AWS A5.17, ...

The types of steel grade and standards can be different but all in the form of wire rod Φ 6.0 mm or 5.5 mm and weight of 400 kg/roll, not tangled, twist. In Vietnam and the world, only steel manufacturers that use blast furnace technology and blowing furnace can produce this item. So, Hoa Phat steel will confidently produce it according to the above criteria and meet 100% of steel demand for welding rod production line in the country with the best quality and price.

Previously, Hoa Phat has also produced the puller steel wire rod for exporting to Australia with the composition of carbon (C) approximately 0.12%. Steel for welding rod demands higher technical, therefore, Hoa Phat Steel Joint Stock Company takes time to adjust to technology and procurement of equipment at some stages to suit technical requirements.

The company currently has orders for specialized equipment such as audio-frequency control system for furnace blowing slag, antioxidant casting protection system, magnetic agitation system to remove impurities and increase ingot casting quality. It is expected that the Company will try to manufacture welding rod steel by late of 7/2016.
