Hoa Phat Steel provided to the first key metro route in Ha Noi

With leading quality, Hoa Phat Steel was chosen for construction of the first underground metro line in the Ha Noi capital. Accordingly, Hoa Phat provided the first shipment of 2,000 tonnes of steel bar D10 to D40 labelled B500B meeting UK standards to the metro line on May 15^th.

Steel used for underground metro line have to meet with very strict technical and quality requirements. It was the reason that not all steel manufacturers meet the investors' requirements. In addition to stringent physical requirements, the steel grade requires to meet the highest UK standards for construction steel - BS 4449: 2005 + A2: 2009, especially meeting fatigue of steel in high activity.

Mr Dinh Quang Hieu, head of construction steel marketing department of Hoa Phat said only steel produced under modern blast furnace technology from iron ore could meet the above mentioned requirements. Railway Project Management Unit officially chose Hoa Phat construction steel for the capital’s key project after successful experiments. All of steel product provided to the first metro line in Ha Noi was distributed by Tan Co Consultancy Joint Stock Company – one of big Hoa Phat’s distributors.

The 4km-long underground metro line that will link Thu Le with the Ha Noi railway station is under the Ha Noi Train Station-Nhon urban metro rail project with a total length of 12.5km. It comprises 8.5km of an aerial track that will connect Nhon depot with Thu Le. This has been the first time Ha Noi investing into a underground metro track.

The Nhon – Ha Noi Station was started its construction in 2006. the project has a total investment of around 1.2 billion euros, including 900 million euros from the French Government, French Development Agency (AFD), European Investment Bank (EIB), Asian Development Bank (ADB). It was expected that the project would be completed by 2021 as plan set by the Railway Project Management Unit.

Earlier, Hoa Phat steel labelled B500B was exported for key national construction of Singapore and Cambodia and receiving high value from customers about its quality.
