Hoa Phat listed in Top 50 most effective companies for seven consecutive years

On June 7^th 218, Nhip Cau Dau tu Magazine in collaboration with Thien Viet Securities Company published the “Top 50 of the most effective companies in Viet Nam 2017.” For the seven consecutive year, Hoa Phat Group JSC was honoured in the prestigious ranking and in the top 16 companies with capitalisation value of more than US$1 billion.

In 2017, Hoa Phat Group achieved impressive business results with consolidated revenue of VND46.8 trillion, up 38 per cent against 2016. Especially, after-tax profit recorded the highest level in Hoa Phat's history when it reached VND8.01 trillion, exceeding 33 per cent of the set target and increasing 21 per cent over the previous year, contributing VND5 trillion to the State budget, up 40 per cent compared to 2016.

Hoa Phat also achieved the record with 3 million tonnes of finished steel products, up 25 per cent compared to 2016. With this result, Hoa Phat strengthened its leading position in Vietnamese steel industry. The group's two main product lines which include construction steel and steel pipes are taking the lead in the market, with market shares of approximately 23.9 per cent and 26.4 per cent respectively. The scale of Hoa Phat Group has also increased significantly with the implementation of the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Complex project.

In May, Hoa Phat's construction steel hit the market with 228,000 tonnes, increasing 28.5 per cent over the same period last year as well as the previous month. While many countries strengthen trade remedies, Hoa Phat Steel continues to be exported with high output of nearly 10,000 tonnes. In the first five months of this year, Hoa Phat steel output reached nearly 950,000 tonnes, representing 12 per cent year-on-year hike.

The "top 50 most effective companies in Vietnam" ranking is co-organized by the Nhip cau dau tu Magazine in co-operation with Thien Viet Securities Company, in consultation with economic experts from Harvard Business School, referenced from the world's prestigious rankings such as Bloomberg Businessweek, Fortune, and Forbes Worldwide, to find and honour efficient trading companies on the Vietnamese stock market.

The TOP 50 evaluates the business performance of companies in many different industries which listed on Vietnam’s stock market, based on three growth indicators including revenue, return on equity (ROE) and return on capital (ROC) for three consecutive years. The results aim to evaluate businesses’ administration ability.

Earlier, Forbes Việt Nam also listed Hoa Phat Group in the Top 50 best listed companies in Viet Nam for six years in a row.
