Delegation of the Steel Association of Southeast Asian visit the Hoa Phat Steel Complex

On June 2, 2016, Vietnam Steel Association in collaboration with the Council of the Association of Southeast Asian Steel (AISC) and South East Asia Iron and Steel Institute (SEAISI) organized a tour to the Hoa Phat Iron and Steel Complex in Hai Duong.

Delegation includes nearly 50 delegates representing associations, managers, entrepreneurs, specialists is Southeast Asia and Vietnam. Mrs. Vuong Ngoc Linh, Mr. Ho Duc Tho - Deputy Director of Hoa Phat JSC directly assists the delegation to visit and learn about the main plants and technologies of the complex.

Officially put into operation in early 2010 with a total area of up to 132 hectares, the Hoa Phat iron and steel complex in Hai Duong includes a self-contained combination of materials processing plant, coke and thermal plant, cast iron plant, steel making plant to steel rolling plant with a total capacity of 2 million TPY. Synchronous production scale, self-contained helps Hoa Phat to control cost very good. This is a great advantage to ensure the breakthrough strength and sustainability of Hoa Phat steel in the market.

On the other hand, Hoa Phat iron and steel complex located on the Kinh Thay waterfront which brings many advantages of the transportation from raw materials to steel products by waterways. Currently, the complex has built 9 ports with the modern gantry cranes; one of these ports is only used for loading finished product. The total handling capacity of ports is over 30,000 tons per day.

The company's board of directors also answered many questions of representatives of large steel enterprises from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines on technology, materials ores, ore concentration used for the blast furnace, the output of products, the competitiveness of Hoa Phat steel, ...

Mr Tan Ah Yong - SEAISI Secretary General said: "I went to visit several major steel mills in the region, but this complex is so impressive to me. We can say this is one of the best and most professional manufactories that I've ever visited".

The fact tour is in a series of events of the Southeast Asian steel industry’s exhibition and conference, taking place from May 29 – June 2, 2016 in Vietnam.
