Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang appointed as General Director of Hoa Phat Group

 On April 26, 2021, Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang - a Member of the Board of Directors and Deputy General Director was appointed as General Director of Hoa Phat Group in the 2021-2026 period according to the Resolution No. 11/NQHP-2021. The appointment is part of the strategy to restructure the group’s operating model, transferring executive responsibility, and training the next generation of key leaders at Hoa Phat Group.

With the top revenue and profit scale in Vietnam and a much larger stature than before, from 2021, Hoa Phat Group has restructured its operating model, optimizing the ecosystem in 4 areas including: Iron and Steel, Steel Products, Agriculture and Real Estate.

Hoa Phat Group’s operating model since 2021

After transferring the role of the group’s General Director to Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang, Mr. Tran Tuan Duong held the position as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr Duong and Mr. Tran Dinh Long - Chairman of the Board of Directors will focus on researching development strategy for Hoa Phat Group in the next 20-30 years. Mr. Duong is also the Chairman and General Director of Hoa Phat Iron and Steel Corporation, responsible for all steel production and trading.

Born in 1970 in Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang is a construction engineer, graduated from Hanoi University of Civil Engineering in 1992. Mr. Thang has 18 years of leadership experience at Hoa Phat Group with different positions such as Member of the Board of Directors, Deputy General Director of Hoa Phat Group, Deputy Director of Hoa Phat Urban Development and Construction Joint Stock Company, Director of Hoa Phat Hung Yen Feed Company, Director of Hoa Phat Hai Duong Steel Joint Stock Company.

In addition to the role of General Director of Hoa Phat Group, Mr. Thang directly manages and holds the position of Director of Hoa Phat Hai Duong Steel Joint Stock Company which is in charge of operations at some subsidiaries in the field of real estate and sea shipping.

Mr. Tran Dinh Long - Chairman of the Board of Directors said: “Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang has been fostered through many challenges and matured at Hoa Phat. It is time for Hoa Phat to give greater control to the F2 leadership generation. The Board of Directors will focus on the long-term investment and development strategy of the group, ensuring the longevity and sustainability of the Hoa Phat brand.”
