Hoa Phat welding rod steel to replace imported products

Hoa Phat began promoting the manufacturing and supplying of welding rod steel SAE1008 in October 2016, based upon the ASTM A510/A510M-13 standard. Viet Nam previously had to import 100 per cent of the product from China and other countries.

The material has been a special product which is supplied to welding plants. Hoa Phat has been the only plant in the country producing the product. In reality, in November and December, Hoa Phat supplied more than 30,000 tonnes of wire rod steel, out of total orders for some 45,000 tonnes.

Hoa Phat’s SAE1008 steel has many advantages, thus helping local welding material businesses retain stable supplies, as well as reducing dependence upon imported products, and preventing unstable prices. They will also be active in taking stock of material and not needing to stockpile materials, contributing to reducing production costs and financial expenses due to its availability.

On the other hand, through actual testing, using wire rod steel of Hoa Phat will reduce the consumption of raw materials by not warehousing raw materials that are no longer rusty, as are imported products. As noted by the steel wire rod units, the consumption of raw materials when using imported goods is 1.2 per cent, while the use of steel wire draw wire SAE1008 of Hoa Phat wasted only 0.8 per cent.

Hoa Phat steel can meet the strictest requirements in the world. In addition to wire rod steel, Hoa Phat has produced and supplied welding rod cores since the middle of 2016 and received high valuation from the market.
