Hoa Phat to export construction steel to North America

Steel producer Hoa Phat Group has signed contracts to export construction steel to the United States and Canadian markets in the rest of this year. Hoa Phat in October produced 164,700 tonnes of steel products, up 18 per cent year-on-year, and equivalent to a market share of 24.8 per cent as the industry’s output last month reached some 660,000 tonnes.

According to the Department of Planning under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the long-steel production and output maintain their high volume thank to high construction demand in the country. In the first 10 months of the year, Hoa Phat’s construction steel output reached 1,38 million tonnes, meeting with 82 per cent of the whole year’s set target and equivalent to total output of the whole 2015.

Hoa Phat’s steel were continuously provided into big projects of Geleximco Group, Hoa Binh Corporation, Bach Dang Bridge, highway projects. Hoa Phat has also promoted production of wire rod steel Φ6 SAE1008 following ASTM A510M standard to replace imported product from China.

Hoa Phat prepares for its first batch of construction steel exported to the US market

The company in January- October exported over 27,000 tonnes of construction steel to some countries such as Australia, Laos, and Cambodia. Alone October, the export volume was more than 3,600 tonnes. A representative from Hoa Phat Steel One Member Company Ltd said in the two year-end months, Hoa Phat would export a much bigger steel amount in comparison with the previous months thank to signing contracts with some commercial partners in the United States and Canada with output of more than 10,000 tonnes per month.

Hoa Phat steel meets with almost strict requirements in the world such as JISG3505, JIS3112 (Japan), BS4449:1997 (Uk), ASTM (United States),… It was the reason that the group gained the first steel bar export contracts to demanding markets such as the United States and Canada in the upcoming time.

For the United States, in addition to ensuring common standards from the market, importers also have special requirements on rolled steel which is not allowed to cool by water but cool naturally.

In addition to steel pipe product, Hoa Phat would export steel bar for construction to the North American countries by the end of this year. This has been considered as one of important breakthrough for the group in seeking and expanding its steel consumption markets, thus bringing a strong growth rate for steel consumptions next year.
