Hoa Phat launches Phase 1 of Hoa Tam Industrial Park and Bai Goc Port Projects

On August 19, 2025, Hoa Phat held a groundbreaking ceremony for Phase 1 of the Hoa Tam Industrial Park infrastructure investment project and the Bai Goc Port project in Hoa Xuan Commune, Dak Lak Province. These projects are part of the national program to commence and inaugurate 80 key projects celebrating the 80th National Day of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025).

Representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Central authorities, Dak Lak Province leaders, and Hoa Phat Group leaders pressed the button to launch the projects

Attending the event were Mr. Nguyen Hong Dien – Minister of Industry and Trade; Mr. Pham Dai Duong – Deputy Head of the Central Committee for Policy and Strategy; Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trung – Secretary of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee; and Mr. Ta Anh Tuan – Chairman of the Dak Lak Provincial People’s Committee, along with central and local delegates. Representing Hoa Phat were Mr. Tran Dinh Long – Chairman of Hoa Phat Group; Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang – CEO; the Board of Directors of Bai Goc Port JSC, and Hoa Tam Industrial Park Infrastructure Development JSC.

At the ceremony, Mr. Ta Anh Tuan - Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People’s Committee, emphasized: “The investment projects in the Southern Phu Yen Economic Zone will help Dak Lak emerge as a new growth hub of the Central Highlands and South-Central Coast, driving the development of trade and services. They will create tens of thousands of jobs, improve local livelihoods, ensure social security, and increase sustainable state budget revenue. These are projects long awaited by both the government and the people.”

Hoa Phat Chairman Tran Dinh Long highlighted that Hoa Phat is Southeast Asia’s largest steel producer, with an annual capacity of 16 million tons, ranking among the world’s top 30. The Group employs 33,000 direct workers and hundreds of thousands of indirect workers nationwide, contributing around VND 15 trillion annually to the state budget.

In line with the Government’s double-digit growth targets, Hoa Phat is expanding its investments, particularly in high-quality steel production. With strong support from the Government, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Dak Lak’s leadership, Hoa Phat will invest in Bai Goc Port and a steel production complex with a total capital of VND 120 trillion during 2025–2030. The steel complex will be developed in two phases with a total capacity of 6 million tons/year. Phase 1, with a capacity of 3 million tons/year, will begin at the end of 2025. Upon completion, Hoa Phat’s steel production capacity will reach 22 million tons/year.

Mr. Tran Dinh Long noted: “These projects fulfill Hoa Phat’s commitments to the Government and Dak Lak Province. With our 33 years of experience and strong track record, we will implement them swiftly and effectively. Once completed, the projects will elevate Vietnam’s position on the global steel industry map, contribute VND 10 trillion annually to the state budget, and create 15,000 jobs, with priority for local workers.”

The Bai Goc Port project, located in Hoa Xuan Commune, Dak Lak Province, will be developed in two phases with a total investment of about VND 24 trillion. The port will directly support the Hoa Tam Industrial Park, oil refining, metallurgy, and energy industries in the region. It will feature 13 specialized berths for vessels up to 250,000 DWT; six general cargo berths for ships up to 50,000 DWT; six liquid/gas terminals for ships up to 50,000 DWT; and one SPM berth. By 2030, the port will be capable of handling approximately 26 million tons of cargo annually.

Earlier, on May 30, 2025, the People’s Committee of Phu Yen Province (now Dak Lak Province) approved the investment policy and investor for Phase 1 of the Hoa Tam Industrial Park infrastructure project. Implemented by Hoa Tam Industrial Park Infrastructure Development JSC, a member of Hoa Phat Group, the project covers about 491 hectares with an investment capital of over VND 4 trillion. The industrial park will be developed with synchronized infrastructure to serve the establishment of the Hoa Phat Steel Complex with a planned capacity of 6 million tons per year.
