Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel participated in the electric load adjustment program

Recently, Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company has signed an agreement to participate in non-commercial electricity load adjustment program with Quang Ngai Electricity. Representatives of Central Power and Quang Ngai appreciate the company's renewable energy and efficient energy usage solution.

Hoa Phat Dung Quat participates in the electricity load adjustment program based on the 110KV transformer station and complec's residual heat generating sets.

With a capacity of 4 million tons per year, Hoa Phat Dung Quat Iron and Steel Integrate Complex in Quang Ngai is entering the peak phase to complete the items of phase 1 and phase 2. In particular, the 110KV substation will be prioritized to be completed in 2018 to serve the demands of construction and equipment commissioning.

According to calculations, the Complex will need about 150 million KWh of electricity per month when going into stable production in both phases. However, similar to the model of a closed complex in Hai Duong, Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel uses closed circulation technology, minimizing energy consumption by utilizing excess heat from producing clean coke coal technology, stamping dried coke to recover heat and applying modern technologies to production operation in order to save electricity.

It is expected that when completing and putting all 4 generating sets into operation in early 2020, the Complex's thermal capacity will reach 240MW, helping Hoa Phat Dung Quat to autonomy about 70% of the total electricity demand.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Duc - Director of Binh Son Power Company highly appreciated the efficient and renewable energy saving and use solutions of Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company. According to the agreement between the two parties in the program, Binh Son Power and Central Power will give priority to stable and long-term power supply for the Company's production, and also commit to shorten the processing of handling grid problems, support maximum of arising needs.

Adjusting the electricity load is one of the power demand management programs, encouraging businesses to proactively adjust the reduction of electricity demand at the request of the electricity supply unit, contributing to reducing maximum capacity at the peak hours of the electricity system, reducing the overload of the power grid and improving the economic efficiency of the electricity system, protecting the environment.

Previously, Hoa Phat Hai Duong Steel Joint Stock Company also participated in the program of electricity load adjustment with Hai Duong Electricity with the same mechanism. At the Forum on Sustainable Development of Energy in Vietnam's Industry by the Ministry of Industry and Trade Newspaper in coordination with the Department of Energy Saving and Sustainable Development (Ministry of Industry and Trade) held in August 2019 in Hanoi. The leaders of the Central Economic Commission and the Ministry of Industry and Trade all highly appreciated the energy-efficient production model of many heavy industry enterprises, including Hoa Phat.
