The rooftop solar power system at Hoa Phat Dong Nai Animal Feed Co., Ltd. has a capacity of 1,250 kWp. With an investment of over 13 billion VND, it supplies about 2.3 million kWh of electricity per year. This system helps the company self-supply up to 40% of its production power needs.
The system is installed across more than 12,000 square meters of the factory roof and includes 2,548 solar panels.Hoa Phat Dong Nai Animal Feed Co., Ltd. recently started running its rooftop solar system at its factory in Dong Nai. Horus Power Energy Joint Stock Company built the project over nearly 4 months.
The system uses 2,548 LESSO solar panels, each with a capacity of 625 Wp. These panels use n-type TOPCon HalfCell technology with an efficiency rate of 23.14%. Compared to the common PERC technology on the market, these panels offer higher efficiency and a longer lifespan. This means they generate more electricity from the same roof area and last longer. The system generates an average of about 6,800 kWh per day, with a maximum capacity of 1,250 kW during peak sunlight.
An inverter system converts the direct current (DC) from the panels into alternating current (AC) to power production.According to energy consultants, the system meets 34% to 40% of the factory's production power needs. This helps Hoa Phat Dong Nai Animal Feed save 34% on monthly electricity costs. LESSO states the product lifespan is 25 to 30 years, while the project will pay for itself in just over 5 years. After this payback period, the company will get almost free electricity from the system for the remaining 20 years.
Animal feed production lines consume a lot of electricity because of constant running of grinding, mixing, pelleting, and drying machines. By producing its own power, the company cuts reliance on the national grid, avoids the impact of electricity price hikes, and keeps product prices stable.
In addition to financial savings, the project cuts 1,300 to 1,600 tons of CO2 emissions per year. This matches the green production strategy that Hoa Phat Group is using across its entire system.
Ms. Tran Hai Yen, Director of Hoa Phat Dong Nai Animal Feed Co., Ltd., said: "For manufacturing companies, especially feed mills with high power use, securing a part of our own energy is key to better operations. This rooftop solar system helps us rely less on the grid, save costs, and stabilize product prices. This investment helps the environment while helping the company grow sustainably and compete better in the long run."
Hoa Phat’s two animal feed factories in Hung Yen and Dong Nai have a total capacity of 600,000 tons per year. The main equipment is imported from the Netherlands, and the entire production process is automated. Nutrition formulas are tested on high-yield livestock like DanBred pigs and Hy-line chickens at internal farms before hitting the market. The products do not use growth-stimulating antibiotics, lean-meat agents, or any banned substances.
