Hoa Phat’s steel sales reached 869,000 tonnes in April

Hoa Phat Group sold 869,000 tonnes of steels in April, increasing 65 per cent from the same period last year. Alone finished construction steel sale was up 59 per cent from April 2020 to reach 428,000 tonnes. Of which, the steel export volume last month was 73,000 tonnes, 3.5 times higher than the corresponding period last year.

The construction steel sale in all regions nationwide saw strong growth in April compared to the same period last year. The northern and central regions posted the highest growth of 66 per cent and 67 per cent respectively. The southern region achieved the sale growth rate of 34 per cent.

Hoa Phat Group has continued to exploit a new export market of Peru for its construction steel product. Its traditional markets such as Australia, Japan, Canada, ASEAN countries etc continued to have orders in large quantities, making the export of finished steel products 3.5 times higher than the same period. In addition, Hoa Phat also exported 121,000 tonnes of steel billets to the world market, mainly China.

Also in April, Hoa Phat supplied 212,000 tonnes of hot rolled coil (HRC) to the market. In the context of current HRC surging prices in the world market, the initiative in HRC raw materials has enabled the group to promote the production of steel pipes and galvanized steel pipes to meet with demands of both domestic and export markets. Specifically, in April, the steel pipes sales reached 87,000 tonnes, representing 44.5 per cent year-on-year increase. Galvanized steel sheet products grew by 55 per cent.

All of Hoa Phat's iron and steel production complexes have fully utilized their designed capacity to serve the high season market demand. In the first months of the year, Hoa Phat Group produced more than 2.7 million tonnes of crude steel, up 58 per cent over the same period in 2020.

Hoa Phat sold 2.66 million tonnes of steel billets, finished construction steel and HRC in the January-April period. Of which, the construction steel sale was 1.28 million tonnes, up 28 per cent. Some 220,000 tonnes of construction steel was exported, posting 42 per cent year-on-year increase. The square billet export output reached 507,000 tonnes, slightly increasing over the same period last year. Sales of hot rolled coil steel reached 878,000 tonnes.

The group's HRC products such as steel pipes and galvanized steel sheets also saw high growth, reaching 271,000 tonnes and 93,000 tonnes, respectively, up 32 per cent and 2.6 times over the same period last year.

Hoa Phat Group targets sales of 5 million tonnes of finished construction steel and steel billet; 2.7 million tonnes of HRC; 920,000 tonnes of steel pipes and over 300,000 tonnes of galvanized steel sheets in 2021.
