Hoa Phat reaches milestone of 15 million tons of HRC

On September 20, 2025, Hoa Phat officially reached the milestone of 15 million tons of hot rolled coil (HRC). This marks an important achievement, recognizing the efforts of Hoa Phat’s engineers and staff after more than five years since the first HRC coil was produced in May 2020.

Of this, HRC1 Plant at the Hoa Phat Dung Quat 1 Iron and Steel Integrated Complex has produced over 13.5 million tons, while HRC2 Plant  at the Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 Complex contributed nearly 1.5 million tons.

From early Q2 to September 2025, Blast Furnace No. 1 and No. 2 at the Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 project were put into operation, marking the full completion of the complex. Output at the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Complex is expected to see rapid growth in the near future.

Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 is equipped with advanced technology from European and G7 partners, including SMS (Germany) BOF steelmaking and RH vacuum degassing furnaces, Primetals (UK) thick slab continuous casting machines, and Danieli Corus (Netherlands) blast furnaces. Hoa Phat invests in modern closed-loop technology, recovering residual heat and reusing surplus gas from iron- and steelmaking as boiler fuel for power generation. This system is designed to deliver the highest product quality while ensuring optimal operation of every key production stage, environmental friendliness, and lowest production costs.

As the only Vietnamese enterprise producing HRC, Hoa Phat has supplied the market with a diverse range of HRC products in different widths and thicknesses to meet customer demand. Hoa Phat’s HRC products meet stringent global standards such as JIS, MS, SAE, BS EN and are CE Marking - a “passport” for exports to Europe.

HRC is a vital industrial steel product and raw material for many industries, including galvanized steel, steel pipes, containers, automobiles, shipbuilding, oil & gas, engineering, home appliances, steel structures, and energy.

In addition to common product lines, the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Integrated Complex is developing premium HRC products. The company has successfully trial-produced steel grades for home appliances and automotive applications under the IF steel group (deep drawing steels for auto body, household appliances, and interiors), including DD and EDD. Other grades include those for oil & gas such as API J55, API X42, API X50, API X60, API X70; automotive structural steels such as S355MC, S420MC, S500MC, S600MC, S650MC, S700MC; and high-strength structural steels such as S355JR/J0/J2, Q355B/C/D.

Hoa Phat is also working closely with domestic and international partners to develop other high-grade products such as automotive steel and electrical steel (grades DP, Martensitic, M15, M19, M22, M36, M43).

Hoa Phat Group is the largest steel producer in Southeast Asia, equals the Top 30 steel enterprises worldwide. From 2026, Hoa Phat’s steel production capacity will reach 16 million tons per year, including 9 million tons of HRC and high-quality steel, meeting the full demand of both domestic and international markets.
