HCMC – The market experienced some profit-taking yesterday after trading
in a fairly tight range in slightly lower turnover worth VND2,607.90 billion
or US$136.68 million. The VN index fell 0.3% and closed at 527.27. 77
shares gained while 102 shares fell. And 21 shares went to the ceiling
while 2 shares dropped to the floor. Foreigners accounted for 5.4% of the
buying value and 4.04% of the selling value.
The market fell from the open and hit a low of 522.81 before recovering
into positive territory and then fell back a second time although only
slightly before closing just into the red. Yesterday’s trading range was a little
narrower at just over 4 points and trading volume was lower.
After the end of the first session, about 6.5 million shares were offered
and then around 5.8 million shares were bid. And towards the end of the
day, around 10 million shares were offered and some 16 million shares
were bid. Offers were much higher than yesterday at the open and then
rose further during the day before closing almost at yesterday’s closing
levels. Opening bids were similar to yesterday and then climbed during
the day before closing a little below yesterday’s closing levels. Offers
kept an advantage over bids until the final session when once again bids
moved up as has been the recent pattern.
In terms of the VN index, FPT, DPM, HPG and GMD made the biggest
positive contribution. And BVH, VNM, SSI and VCB made the biggest
negative contribution. Sectors were mixed yesterday.
Foreign buying more than halved yesterday in actual terms and fell by more
than half in percentage terms. Meanwhile foreign selling also fell sharply
on yesterday’s levels in actual terms and fell also in percentage terms.
Foreigners were still net buyers but to the tune of just VND35.34 billion
worth of shares in HCMC. We saw twenty two transactions in the put
through market yesterday.
In the overall market foreigners were active buyers of PVD; DPM; HAG;
SSI and FPT. They also sold LCG; APC; GMD; FPT and HDC. The put
through market was a little less active yesterday with 2 large sized deals
and some medium sized and smaller deals accounting for 3.55% of total
turnover. We saw 331,420 shares of PHR; 166,040 shares of TDH;
300,000 shares of HLA; 327,000 shares of MCV; 50,000 shares of DRC
and 200,000 shares of SAM amongst others in the put through market.
Foreigners were active in just one smaller transaction in the put through
market yesterday.
The most active stock by value yesterday was GMD again which surged by
4.97% to close at VND84,800 with a total of 3.4 million shares traded. SSI
was the second most active share and fell 1.08% to close at VND91,500
on trading of 1.98 million shares. HAG was flat at VND84,000, with 1.56
million shares changing hands. FPT was up 4.76% to VND88,000 on
trading of 1.19 million shares. SJS dipped 0.62% to close at VND79,500
with turnover coming to 1 million shares seen.
As for the four traded funds, VFMVF4 was down 1.11% at VND8,900,
VFMVF1 was flat at VND14,400, PRUBF1 was up 1.69% at VND6,000,
and MAFPF1 was down 1.69% at VND5,800.
The Hanoi market also lost a little ground yesterday but in higher
turnover of VND1,285.19 billion or US$67.36 million. The HN index shed
0.35% and ended the day at 172.09. 79 stocks rose while 156 stocks
fell. And 3 stocks went to the ceiling while 1 stock dropped to the floor.
Foreigners accounted for 1.13% of the buying value and 2.18% of the
selling value. In total foreigners turned net sellers yesterday of VND13.43
billion worth of shares. We also saw ten large, medium and small sized
deals yesterday in a more active put through session in Hanoi accounting for
3.53% of total turnover.
We saw 500,000 shares of GLT; 270,000 shares of KLS and 142,000
shares of VCG and some smaller transactions in the put through market.
The most active share in the cash market yesterday by value was KLS
which surged another 6.37% to VND26,700 on trading of 9.8 million
shares. VCG was the second most active share and jumped 1.58% to
VND57,800 with 3.1 million shares transacted. KLS finally traded yesterday
after two days bid only.
